Winter, spring, summer, fall...and construction. Saskatoon’s unofficial 5th season can be a real pain in the asphalt. Thankfully the City of Saskatoon has a team of dedicated and passionate marketing and communications professionals to make sure the rest of us know what to expect when we leave our driveways.
The communicators for the City’s transportation, construction, and utility departments are responsible for ensuring the people of Saskatoon feel connected with all that is happening in our growing city. Colleen McKee, Communications and Marketing Manager for the City’s Transportation, Construction and Utilities Departments will be joined by team members to discuss the development of the communications and marketing plan for the 2019 construction season.

At the City, we’re in the business of providing basic every day services to the citizens of Saskatoon. Those basic services, such as roads, really matter to the people of Saskatoon. They take us where we need to go. Whether that’s by car, bus, bike or feet, we depend on our bridges, sidewalks and streets.
As marketers, it’s those very basic things that get us excited. It’s those basic things that everyone cares about where huge opportunity lies.
Over the past five years we’ve paved more roads, rebuilt more sidewalks, swept more streets, and replaced more water mains than ever before. We’ve had to create maximum public exposure and maximum public understanding for Saskatoon’s road repair and construction program.
To do so, we’re exploring our own tone and voice that humanizes us and allows citizens to relate to what we’re telling them. We want and need people to pay attention, so if we sound like everything else, people have no reason to take note.
We’ll tell about how we got to where we are today and what we’ve learned about the language we’ve used the marketing mix we chose.
A buffet-style meal will be served. Please let us know of any dietary restrictions by emailing us at: email@example.com
